What’s a girl to do when she’s lost her heart to the hottest, most unattainable guy ever met? Date her best friend, of course. Kyler pressures Amanda to start a relationship, and figuring it the only way to overcome her broken heart, Amanda agrees. Yet when she finds herself seeking advice on love from a chimpanzee, she’s certain the relationship is doomed. Complicating matters, Amanda sets out to do a good deed for a classmate. The poor guy is teased and harassed at school and Amanda feels sorry for him. When she learns he needs a job, she helps him get one at the zoo. But when Amanda discovers the secrets the boy harbors, she fears she may have made a mistake.
Amanda is befuddled by her father’s new found love interest. Though she wants to be happy for him, something about the whole affair smells like camel dung. Suspecting the woman of trading in black market animal smuggling, Amanda determines to prove it and save her father from disaster. The only problem is the new guy at school--Tall Dark and Pompous. He seems to turn up everywhere, constantly embarrassing Amanda, making her feel silly, and causing her knees to go weak when he smiles. Unfortunately, Amanda doesn’t know, until after having lost her heart, that Pompous isn't everything he seems.
