One night during 2012, I woke up around 4:00 a.m. with a story running through my head. It splayed out in front of me from beginning to end. It was about a self-centered young man who lives a comfortable, affluent for his station, life, and how he comes to look outside of his cozy existence and learn to love selflessly, even sacrificially. I got up the next morning and spent the next 6 weeks hammering out a rough first draft. It was around 46,000 words. But as much fun as I had composing the first draft, I knew there was something missing. So I waited. And waited. And waited. Then in April 2015, during a conversation with a dear friend it came to me. I knew what was missing and how to fix it. Holly’s Boys then went from 46,000 words to 108,000, so I guess it could be said that half the book was missing! All things considered, I’m quite happy with it as is. And two literary agents are now reading and considering it for representation. In the meantime, it’s available on Wattpad. Oh, and I designed the cover pictured below by myself.
